Our Fish Gallery

We always have a selection of seasonal wet fish on our ice counter.

Our fresh fish selection usually includes:

Cod, Plaice, Haddock, Halibut, Dover Sole, Scallops, Salmon, Sea Bream, Sea Bass and Brancaster Oysters.

But sometimes it will also include Skate, Hake, Tuna, Swordfish, Sardines, Mackerel, Brill, Turbot, and much, much more.

Additionally, in these winter months, we have the freshest Brancaster Mussels.

Fish Selection:

We have a wide selection of fish available every day. Where possible, this is local and wild, but some fish will always be from further afield and/or farmed.

If you have something special you would like, please let us know earlier in the week, and we will do our best to order it in for you.

Sometimes we need more than a few days to get some things sent out to us. Call in advance to check if we can order it for you and how long it will take to come in.

Cleaning & Preparation:

We are happy to prepare fish for you. We will clean (gut and scale) and prepare fish (head on/off, skinned, filleted) ready for the frying pan, the oven, or a BBQ.

Just let our staff know how you would like it prepared for you when you purchase it.

Some fish do come in whole or already filleted - it depends on the fish and the time of year.

Please note that we typically clean the boards 1 hr before closing - this is when we will stop gutting/scaling/cleaning fish for the day.

If you require something cleaned and you know you will arrive within an hour of closing, please call ahead, and we will get it ready for you.

Packaging & Packing:

We are happy to provide you with some ice to keep your produce cool while you are travelling. Just let the staff know when you buy your fish. We try to wrap the ice in with the fish, but if you have a cool bag that just requires an extra bag of ice, we can do that too.

We can vacuum pack smoked products for you. Some already come vac-packed, but others are loose on our counter. We can vacuum-pack kippers, bloaters, smoked salmon, etc.

Let us know in advance so we have time to do this for you.

Our Services...

Fish Pies Made To Order:

We make fish pies in-house weekly. If you have an occasion that requires a larger portion, call us to discuss how many people it would be for and what kind of pie you would like (Salmon, White Fish or Luxury (White Fish, Salmon and Prawns).

All pies are made with a white sauce and potato topping.

Why not drop your dish off at the shop, and we will fill it up for you.

Fish/Shellfish Platters:

We can build fish platters to order.

You choose from our smoked fish and shellfish counter.

We recommend a mix of smoked fish like hot roast salmon, mackerel, or Staithe Smoke House smoked salmon, with some sweet Danish herrings, king prawns, shell-on prawns or crevettes, and maybe a dressed crab or whole lobster?

Let us know what products you require, how many people it is for, and what your budget is. We can usually accommodate amounts to fit the order.

Additional Services:

We will prepare a whole salmon ready for you to cook at home. Or we can cook you a whole salmon in one of our fish kettles and dress it for you.
