Situated in Brancaster Staithe, almost opposite The White Horse, The Fish Shed is on the main coastal road (A149), between Hunstanton and Wells-Next-The-Sea.
The Fish Shed has been a part of Brancaster Staithe for many years. Opening in 1989, the owners, Mr and Mrs Bocking, started their business from their own kitchen with only a box of fresh fish.
The Fish Shed name was created after the shed behind their house was converted into a shop, and in 2004 The Fish Shed outgrew the original shed and was moved to a larger shop.
Once only a fresh fish shop, it has grown and grown, and now sells a variety of products. Everything from fresh local fish, shellfish, meat and game, fruits, vegetables, breads and sundries. Homemade products include fantastic smoked salmon, fish pies, pates and fishcakes.
Locals and visitors are welcome 7 days a week, all year round, as the shop only closes for Christmas Day and Boxing Day every year. The Fish Shed is your one stop shop for whatever fishy and local delights you are looking for.
"This place is amazing! Drive up from Wells, watching out for it on your left, or
down the coast from Hunstanton looking out on your right, and there it is - a Swiss
style wooden shed. The fish shed. Don't worry - there's a sign to help you!
As if you'd mistake it, anyway. A vast array of herbs and fresh vegetables surround
the doorway, and upon entering there's an amazing quantity of fresh fish, both local
and slightly more exotic. Other local delicacies abound - quail's eggs, hares, fresh-baked
bread - the fish shed is a whole lot more than just fish and well worth a visit!"
